Qaisar-ut-Tawarikh of Kamal-ud-din Haidar

About Book - There are some very important Urdu sources unravelling the events of 1857, without going througn which a mass of clinching historical material! remains away from our grasp. In order to remove this bottleneck, I published 1857 Classics - I: Khadang-i-Ghadar and Naunaga last year. The material for this volume has been culled from Qeisar-ut-Tawarikh of Kamal-ud-din Haidar and forms Vol. II of this series. It mainly concentrates on the events of Delhi, Rohilkhand and Awadh with occasional references to the occurrences of other places, It is a very important source and cannot be overlooked while carrying out research upon 1857.
Sources like Qaiser-ut-Tawarikh also provide us with a lot of biographical details, leanings, perceptions, actions, manouvres, moods, weaponry, supplies, leadership, etc of those who mattered most in this unique event of History, which is not to be found elsewhere Kamal-ud-din Haidar is a gossipy writer and traces of it are also found in Qaisar-ut-Tawarikh. However, his exaggerations and mis-statements can be corrected and rejected as the case may be with the help of other better sources available to us.
