The second work included in this book is Naunaga of Munshi Mendi La'l, which is an elucidation of the actions of Wajid Ali Shah on the eve of his deposition in a highly eulogistic strain, a paneygyric of the Britishers and a caricature of the mtineers; but despite that it is an important and invaluable source on 1857 about the events of Lucknow and the adjoining areas and brings to the liemlight some new facts. It is a blunt but frank exposition of the mutineers.
About Author - Dr. Hamid Afaq Qureshi (b 2.7.1945), M.A. (History), M.A. (Pol.Sc.) & Ph.D. (History) is a well known Historian, who has published 93 research papers (45 on History of Awadh) on various aspects of the History of India in reputed Journals and Proceeding Volumes of History Congresses and Seminars. He helped 6 research scholars in completing their Ph.Ds. He was Joint Secretary, U.P. History Congress (1985-88) and a Member of the Executive Committees of the South Indian History Congress (1988) and U.P. History Congress (1989).
